Thinkpad W520: Volume and brightness control stopped working

I updated my system a bit ago, and now I can't adjust my volume with the built in buttons, and my brightness control (via fn key) does not work anymore either. The volume off button still works.

I'd post some files, but I don't really know where to look. Help please?

If you are using gnome you can either downgrade the mentioned packages or update to 3.6 in gnome-unstable.
