Update 3.5.6-1-ARCH to 3.6.2-1-ARCH breaks ondemand governor

uuuHello,

as the title says, the ondemand cpu frequency governor seems to be broken in 3.6.*.
The sympton is that my cpu (i5-something, Thinkpad X220) is constantly set to 2.5 GHz (max) whether I'm on battery or ac.

The cpupower frequency-info command reports 800 MHz (min) which is wrong.
Powertop reports the correct frequencies, as does the sys interface (/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu?/).

Furthermore I cannot set the frequency manually using /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu?/cpufreq/scaling_setspeed, which reports <unsupported>.
(That's also true for 3.5, but throttling works here anyway).

I also tried to disable laptop-mode-tools and checked pm-utils (which do not set my cpu frequency).
The only solution for now seems to be a downgrade from 3.6 to 3.5, which I've done.

Thus my conclusion is, that somethings broken with the cpu frequency scaling in 3.6.

Any advise, clues, suggestions?

Thanks and wishes!

FYI: I'm using the X220 with an i7 and am not experiencing this issue.

EDIT: I was wrong, I AM experiencing this issue after resuming from suspend (90% of the time, sometimes it does work).

Re: Update 3.5.6-1-ARCH to 3.6.2-1-ARCH breaks ondemand governor

Hi,

I'm using laptop-mode-tools but I don't think that's the root of the problem.

Right now, I'm experiencing the behavior with kernel 3.5.6-1 too.

That's odd, I start to think that it might have something to do with the dock I'm using, but I cannot clearly correlate this.

cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu?/cpufreq/scaling_setspeed
800000
800000
800000
800000
cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu?/cpufreq/scaling_cur_freq
800000
800000
800000
800000
cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu?/cpufreq/cpuinfo_cur_freq
2500000
2500000
2500000
2500000
 cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu?/cpufreq/bios_limit
2501000
2501000
2501000
