You may downgrade the kernel for the time being or try LTS kernel.

I have the same problem.

How do I accomplish this when I cannot get past boot into the OS?
Also, headkase, which log file are you displaying in your post? I can access my disk via a live cd, but cannot find the appropriate log for my machine.
Thanks

I fixed the link (dropped the l in html).

Boot a live cd and chroot (see the wiki on chrooting).

That's the content of the email that I failed to link to properly.

I guess that if I downgrade kernel, I should also downgrade some other packages? Which ones?

Does anyone know if there is a bug number for this? I'm experiencing this bug on my MacbookPro 7,1 (2010) too (I am forced to use IDE as sata is not supported on this machine in bios compatibility mode afaik).
The title of this thread is rather non descriptive. How about name it something like:
kernel 3.6 panic ("kernel NULL pointer dereference in pacpi_set_dmamode")
