Re: Arch x64 fresh install + Gnome 3 - many keyboard shortcuts not working

Hi, just yesterday, I did a complete re-installation of arch and I have had the same issues as you guys. There is a strange thing thaugh, the Fn+[F2,F3] keys are working, the rfkill key (Fn+F12) is working but the volume up, down or mute is not (Fn+F11,F10,F9). Anyway, since it is a new installation, I did not have the possibility to downgrade my packages (because I did not have them in the cache) and I was unable to find some of them online. Anyway I ended up using acpid to link the key pressing events to some custom actions (amixer set Master 5%+, etc.). I guess what I am trying to say is that even thaugh it is annoying, the issue is minor and can be circumvented with a little effort.

My first post on the Arch linux forum btw. I have been using it for 2 years now and I could never use another Linux distro. Arch ruined me for other distros ;p.

Re: Arch x64 fresh install + Gnome 3 - many keyboard shortcuts not working

If you're looking for a quick fix, someone created a patched gnome-settings-daemon package which I can confirm solves the issue for me.  The problem is that gnome-settings-daemon 3.4.2 doesn't support XInput 2.2 correctly, which is included in xorg-server 1.12 and 1.13.  It just seems to have more issues on 1.13 than it did on 1.12.

Here's the link to the package:

Just an FYI, this definitely won't be fixed before Gnome 3.6 comes out:

Any idea of how much longer will it take?

It hit the testing repo a few hours ago. In a few days it should become stable.

Re: Arch x64 fresh install + Gnome 3 - many keyboard shortcuts not working

Hi,

Even with Gnome 3.6, I still have this issue.

Is it supposed to be solved?

EDIT: some additionnal information: I use systemd. Navigation shortcuts work, but Lock Screen (Ctrl+Alt+L), open terminal (F4), sound control and some other shortcuts do not work.

Hi,
Gnome 3.6 solved the issue for me. Keyboard shortcuts including Ctrl+Alt+T, Ctrl+Alt+L, sound control and Printscreen are working right now.

I'm sorry about the necrobumping but I'm having a similar or equivalent problem here.. My usual [Fn] and the Ctrl+Alt+T  shortcuts aren't working... Any idea?
