usb mouse disconnecting

Hi.
From good few weeks I have problem with my usb mouse (ASUS mouse). When I'm using mouse is working fine but when living my pc for 2-3 minutes without touching it than my usb mouse is dissconnected (freezing) [in that time touchpad is working fine] and to use it again have to unplug and plug again...
this is dmesg after that happend:

which DE are you using ?
afaik it is your DE's power setting which is closing usb ports after some time of no activity.
Have you tried another mouse or maybe it is your usb port . Try another port .

usb port is ok, yes second mouse is the same...
I'm using GNOME 3 maybe that's the problem... will take a look on that...

Input devices should NOT have usb-autosuspend enabled. Below i post a working example from my system:

Control is set to 'on' for the mouse and keyboard and to auto for the rest. Gnome does not recognize the input devices correctly and set control to 'auto'.
This is a bug in gnome in my opinion.

So how can we change control to 'on' ? don't have any ideas how to do that and how to check how my control is set ? lsub not showing it...

siamer, autosuspend can be controlled here:

/sys/bus/usb/devices/usbX/power/control

Where X is a number that identifies each usb bus.

So it should be on, yes? I have it on. Also I dont use gnome so its not related to that. I got KDE 3.6.2-1-ck

And I dont understand how it could be that suspend thing because over night when nothing really happens on my computer it never disconnects.
But when I fire up a HD movie on one screen and quake live on another one it can disconnect many times/minute.

I belive my problem is solved by upgrading kernel... from around week my mouse is ok...
my kernel is:

I've been hoping that an update will fix it for me but no.

Today I changed my Logitech G400 thats having these problems to my fedora laptop and tried with my old Logitech G5 to see what happens.
No disconencts with Logitech G5 on my arch machine. And no disconnects on the laptop either with the G400. what the..?

I do not understand this how can it be that only that combination have these problems :s

what kind of kernel do you have ? bfs ? maybe that's the problem... maybe try install same kernel as I have...

An example: /etc/udev/rules.d/91-local.rules (note that 91 is higher than the 42 in the filename of /usr/lib/udev/rules.d/42-usb-hid-pm.rules, so gets executed *after*)

ACTION=="add", SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ATTR{product}=="Razer Abyssus", ATTR{power/control}="on"

This switches the "control" parameter from "auto" (i.e. auto-suspend is allowed) to "on" (auto-suspend is not allowed).

First, make the new rule take effect:

udevadm control --reload

Here's a handy script to check:

for d in /sys/bus/usb/devices/[0-9]* ; do if [[ -e $d/product ]] ; then echo -e "`basename $d`\t`cat $d/power/control`\t`cat $d/speed`\t`cat $d/product`" ; fi ; done

Should see: on 12 for the mouse line.

I have 3.6.2-1-ck. I booted up 3.6.2-1-ARCH and tried but with the same disconnects. It might be a coincidence but it disconnected more frequently the short time I was on the -ARCH kernel.

I noticed another thing in kernel.log. Out of my current 389 usb disconnects 24 of them have "hub 2-1.5.1:1.0: port 2 disabled by hub (EMI?), re-enabling..." on the row above the "USB disconnect, device number XX".

Might be related somehow even though I've tried without the usbhub aswell but with the same disconnects?

Edit: Soooo.. I just changed from openbox-kde-session to openbox-session and spent 2 hours playing quakelive without a disconnect. Looking good. ( not for kde )

maybe try download some livebooting archlinux version with kde for example bridge linux (it's 100% archlinux) here you can find it http://sourceforge.net/projects/bridgelinux/files/ so you can check if kde is problem or your configuration... ? maybe that will clear situation a little bit ?

my mouse is still good so far...

No apparently it was not KDE but switching away from it made my mouse disconnect only one time in these two days instead of a few times per hour with kde.

So something related to it? I have no idea

Edit: Oh my godz. Apparantly it WAS the cable! really freakin' sensitive stuff I must say. Only disconnecting on my workstation computer, somehow its in the right position to fail.

I was waiting for kernel updates but none solves the problem. My cable is okay, autosuspend is on, and keyboard as well as externel hdd never disconnect.

Just gonna say I sat for like 20 minutes watching TV holding the mouse and the cable trying all kinds of angles before I found the place where the lights go out... really sensitive.

Same problem; using a 3.7.7-1-ARCH x86_64 running a bare bones Openbox (nvidia card + nouveau) I get a succession of

I read this and changed from openbox to openbox-session to no discernible effect.

This file isn't on my filesystem-- if you meant to imply it's supposed to come with Arch's [base] or [base-devel], but this looks like the appropriate thing.

This seems odd to me, as my rate of disconnect/reconnect/fail doesn't change just because I'm moving the cord around.

Searching these forums provided this as the best thread, and searching the internet provided many differing solutions and non-solutions that don't really apply to Arch, or imply that this is something automatic and unavoidable with a few different kinds of optical mice.

Inspiration or confirmation would be welcome.
