ASUS UL30A won't boot without acpi=off

Hello everyone,
I'm running arch on my desktop system for quite a while now (about 2 years, so it's quite embarrassing I can't figure this out myself) and am now trying to install it on an ASUS UL30A.

The Arch Wiki and a couple places on the Internet claim most things work ouf of the box, but it won't let me boot unless I pass acpi=off to the kernel (latest one). And a notebook without ACPI is quite pointless I guess.

Is anyone else having this problem? How may I fix it? Thanks a lot in advance!
