I just upgraded (pacman -Syu) the Arch installation on my laptop using the testing repo after not updating for a few days. When I rebooted after the update, the "Shutdown" option is no longer present in the "Logout LXDE Session" menu and when I click on the "Suspend" or "Hibernate" options I receive an error that reads "not authorized" (capitalization shown as present in error). I am running the system as a regular user not root when this issue occurs. When running as the root user the issue goes away. I did not keep a log of which packages were updates but I have not seen an issue like this previously, so I think that it is possible that one of the updates is responsible for this issue.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

Welcome to Arch theoj. Search the forum for "LXDE logout" -- many people have had similar problems (not usually after an update, but you may still find a solution).
Until you get this fixed, you can shut down using the command "sudo shutdown -h now" in a terminal. Please don't run as root.

Thanks. I saw a lot of forum posts on this topic but none of the methods discussed in those posts worked. Eventually I installed XFCE to see if the problem was just a LXDE one. In XFCE I got the issue discussed at https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Xf … ng_systemd
As suggested in the Wiki I ran
pacman -Sy systemd-sysvcompat
This solved the issues in both LXDE and XFCE. It also solved a permissions issue that I was having with NetworkManager.
