newest arch x86_64 install does not reboot

Hello,

Newest arch x86_64 install does not reboot. (archlinux-2012.10.06-dual.iso)

I freshly installed arch x86_64.

After reboot Black screen with blinking curor in the left upper corner.

anyone any ideas? i guess i made a typical beginner error.

just for completeness. gpt partitiiontable. 3 partitions. boot, swap, root.
followed the Installation manual in the /root/ (and copied it to the install
partition to have it available in the chroot since there is only one pseudo
terminal available with the arch default installation)

It sounds like your boot loader is not properly installed.  Which bootloader did you install?  What commands did you use to install it, and what is in the config file?

Also, I'm pretty sure you can access other ttys in the installation iso by hitting Alt-F2 - Alt-F6, but I have not verified this myself with the newest isos.

yep, sounds like the bootloader to me too

after chrooting into my previous install and
looking into install.txt again i found out whats
wrong. i blindly followed the install.txt

it states....

pacstrap /mnt grub-bios..
....
...
Install GRUB after chrooting (refer to the configure the system section).
...

Well after that there is no mentioning of grub or bootloaders in generall.

and since there were other things to do (locale generation, initrd, timezones...)
i forgot about that.

So i blindly rebooted when the install.txt says , Set a root password with passwd.
Umount and reboot.

and yes, i can confirm that there is only ONE - UNO - "1" pseudoterminal enabled
by default.

well.

seems this is rather untested iso.

Which iso should i use for a fresh installation?

I dont mind getting my hand dirty. But i dont like to fiddle and screw around with the base install.

Not because i can not do it. but because id use LFS if i wanted it myway.

Welcome to Arch glako212. So because you forgot a step in the install process, and you "blindly rebooted", and you think there's only one tty enabled, you conclude that "this is rather untested iso" ? It is an iso that has worked perfectly for many people. The install guide you followed is designed for experienced Arch users. I would recommend that you use the same iso, but this time follow the Begineers' Guide. It is designed to help people remember all the steps.

(edit) I just downloaded the 10.06 iso and booted from it to check the ttys. Trilby is correct; alt-F2,3,4,5,6 enables tty2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. The command "chvt <n>" also works to enable tty<n>. Maybe you have a bad download, but it seems odd that only this part of your downloaded iso would fail.

well, i looked deeper

just tty1! My RAM is ok md5sum is: aefd90da1ee49c745101179f50afa783.
so shame on me. i give feedback after the download, burn and install finished.

can you do a
ls -l /var/

?
