Stream Audio to Server

Hey there,

Kind of a weird thread.  I have a NAS that plays my media through my soundsystem which I control with my laptop via an mpd web interface, but there is still this one case where I am streaming music from the internet on my laptop and I want to hear it out of the speakers which are on the other side of the room.

Is there any way I can push the audio coming out of my laptop's soundcard over wifi and out through the NAS's sound card?  I would like to be able to listen to stuff without downloading it directly to the NAS, updating mpd's library, etc.  I'm sort of imagining a service that would run on the server and allow me to send it audio directly as packets over the network.

Any ideas?

Re: Stream Audio to Server

PulseAudio, assuming you can install it on your NAS.  Unfortunately, my pulse networking experience involves running mpd on a headless box receiving the audio data on w/e computer I'm using, so I don't think I can help you go the other way hmm
