Re: zathura - a document viewer

Hey guys,

I love zathura but does anyone know how I could switch between bookmarks like pages ?

I can switch to next and previous page with J and K - I search a similar way to switch between the bookmarks...

This is currently not possible.

Not really, but you could simplify/fasten the selection of a bookmark with the feedkeys command:

map x feedkeys :blist<Tab>

This will show the list of bookmarks if you press x. Then you can navigate over them with <Tab> and <S-Tab>

Re: zathura - a document viewer

Anyone know why the "follow links" function isn't working for me?
No matter if I have "set browser firefox" like I use on previous update.

And is there any way for zathura to recognize utf-8 characters, like accents, or new lines when copying text?

Re: zathura - a document viewer

I recently installed the updated Zathura, and the statusbar won't take any input.  I can't execute commands or search a document; Zathura will bring up the entry box when "/" or ":" is pressed, but when I type nothing happens.  All I've been able to do is open a document using tab completion.  This happens regardless of which plug-in I use.  Any help is appreciated.

Is it focused? Please try clicking with your mouse into the box and then try again.

Re: zathura - a document viewer

It is focused; seems that every so often it actually will accept a couple keys here and there, but never a full string.

Can you tell me a bit more about your environment? Keymap? Window manager? Which versions are you using?

Best regards

Re: zathura - a document viewer

I'm using DWM, started from the login prompt with the default US keymap (custom keys set in DWM's config, not using xbindkeys or anything like that).  I'm using the zathura-git package from the AUR; I've tried both the poppler and mupdf plugins from the AUR as well, with no change.

I am using the same. So I suppose you are using girara-git as well? Maybe you can join the IRC channel some time so we can track down the problem more easily.

Re: zathura - a document viewer

After following a link is there a way to unfollow it back to where you were? I can't seem to find anything like this in either the shortcuts or config file.

Re: zathura - a document viewer

Thank you very much for this program! I've tried it and I will use it as my standard viewer for my LaTeX papers. And I'm looking forward to use it as my standard pdf viewer.

And here comes my feature request ;-)

I noticed the following, presumably unintended behaviour:
- open a document and zoom in a bit (+)
- scroll right a bit (l)
- if you now switch pages (J, K), zathura "forgets" about the right srolling -- I think it would be cool if the right scrolling was preserved...

Re: zathura - a document viewer

@mlq: Very sorry for my late response to this, but I recently performed a clean install, and was hoping that things would be cleared up.  However, I'm still having the same problem; I'll join you on IRC sometime in the next week to see if we can be of any help to each other.  Thanks.

Re: zathura - a document viewer

@archman-cro, I think the problem may be the pdf file, not zathura.  Both epdfview and mupdf can get to page 6, then they crash with errors.

I was able to get a somewhat legible version by first converting the file to postscript with pdf2ps and then converting back using ps2pdf.  Both converters are from the ghostscript package.

An online full preview is available at http://ebookbrowse.com/laney-gh100l-man … -d15560835.  The pdf download from that site has the same problem, crashes after page 6.  Circuit diagrams (service diagrams) can be downloaded from http://www.eserviceinfo.com/download.php?fileid=44712

I like the sound of EL34 tubes and have collected several amps using them, but I've never owned a Laney.

Edited to correct typos.

Re: zathura - a document viewer

FWIW, mupdf reads that fine all the way through for me.  However another poppler-based pdf reader I have crashes upon opening it.

Re: zathura - a document viewer

mupdf works for me too.
mupdf 1.1-

@ thisoldman: Hey, yeah, I've been researching about those. There's some VH100R and GH100L offers 2nd hand, and I'm looking into trying it, and buying it, possibly. I see they seem to be the best-buy, actually. Cheers for the links. smile

Re: zathura - a document viewer

Do I need to do anything special to map mouse buttons to functions? In my zathurarc:

map <PageUp> scroll half-up
map <PageDown> scroll half-down
map <Button4> scroll half-up
map <Button5> scroll half-down

But Button4 and Button5 still don't do anything... did I misread something in the documentation? I also tried entering the commands to map them manually:

:map <Button4> scroll half-up

To no effect..

Re: zathura - a document viewer

Hi,

Is it possible to hide the "info" messages, which are appearing when zathura launches?
They're writing into vim's buffer when I launch zathura from there smile

$ zathura
info: successfully loaded plugin /usr/lib/zathura/pdf.so
info: Using plain database backend.

greets,
David

Launch it this way:

zathura >/dev/null 2>&1

Re: zathura - a document viewer

Anyone knows how to remove thi gap between pages in a pdf document? It currently looks like this for me:
taDA2cw
Tried setting the page-padding to 1 and switching pdf backends, nothing works.

@ kaszak696, i don't get such a behaviour. Either it's a bug, or maybe the pdf is defective?
