I've got kind of a luxury problem: I've got several boxes sitting around: two workstations I mostly use for all sorts of tasks, and one dedicated jukebox.
Currently, I listen to my music through the jukebox: I've got mpd running on it so I can control it easily over the network. This jukebox is currently hooked up to my (one and only) amp. The amp is pretty old (a Kenwood KR-2600 from '76) but nonetheless very nice.
The things is: I'd like to be able to play music from every box through the amp. Is there a way of doing this? I only have one AUX input on my amp, so there has to be another solution.

One way would be to use something like VLC or the server version VLS to stream music from all the boxes to the one connected to the amp.

Use NFS shares on all your boxes for your music, then add them to the mpd library on the jukebox pc?

I don't mean I want to play music from every box: I want to be able to play movies / games / ... everything that makes noise and only use one amp.

I'd have to agree with SamuraiDan on this one - best thing you could do is stream your sound from one machine to the one hooked to the amp.

Can you do that with "any" app? Could I for instance select my NIC as an output for ALSA?

Ah, I get it now... I see what you're looking for.
While technically it is possible, I know of nothing to do this offhand. It might be possible that something like dmix may allow for this, but I don't have time to look through it just yet.

In which case you may want to have a look at NAS
The Network Audio System is a network transparent, client/server audio transport system. It can be described as the audio equivalent of an X server
