Ath9k Issues 3.5.5->3.5.6?

I have a fresh Arch install on my desktop using a Atheros AR9227 Wireless Card (its made by TP-LINK, I can't find the TP-LINK model number about).

It's correctly detected. However, I have problems. On the LiveCD, which I think uses kernel 3.5.5 I get wifi working perfectly. However, on my installed system, which uses latest kernel from the repos 3.5.6-1-ARCH I cannot detect WPA2 networks, or connect to any networks at all (though some WPA1 networks and WEP networks in the local area seem to be detected correctly).

I get this problem whether I connect through network manager or wifi-select.

I'm guessing this is a kernel issue with the ath9k module. Does that sound sane? If not, are there other explanations?

If so, is there a reasonable way to downgrade to 3.5.5 (happy to compile if absolutely necessary) or is there some other suggested fix for wireless problems in this scenario?

Re: Ath9k Issues 3.5.5->3.5.6?

It would be a huge overkill to recompile a whole kernel just for an earlier wireless module.

Atheros has some of the best supported open source wireless drivers: http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/ath9k

You can download and compile just the wireless modules from the website. It has instructions on how to selectively compile and install the drivers. I periodically rebuild the ath5k for my old laptop. I also use the ath9k driver on a router.

I would suggest you do more investigation and maybe build the 3.5 or the 3.6 versions of the driver, and play around to see if anything still does not work, before you do anything drastic.
