Hi, i had a machine without updating in a month and after updating and reboot I can't login or switch in virtual terminal.
I've been looking the forums and i have seen similar problems, but not the same one i think.
i Never forced an update and never get an error from pacman.
I have /bin/login
and maybe no errors in dmesg
thank you in advance

What did you update? What is your init? What is the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?

What is the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?
This is Arch, mister. No bar, no pinball machines, no bowling alleys, no hand-holding, just Linux.

Thank you for your answers my mistake was for the update of filesystem package in the /etc/passwd file.
I just do a blind replacement ( yes, i know that im a bad guy ....)
The solution was to replace the new one with the old one.
And after that again i did a blind update of filesystem but without bad results
Thank you.
However:
@Woofy What did you update? What is your init? What is the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?
1: The problematic update was filesystem 2012.10-1 but is solved in 2012.10-2
2: I no longer use init, i use systemd since is it in the repos
3: 1
@Woofy: you're scary, and I suppose you know Why is a raven like a writting desk and why is dancing moskau that guy behind you?:)
Happy halloween
