Gnome Activity Menu Background

As of gnome 3.6.1 my Activity menu has no background. When i go to the menu the entire background is pitch black. The issues doesn't hinder usage at all however it is annoying as far as aesthetic issues go. This doesn't happen at all when i disconnect my second monitor so it seems to be just an issue with the dual-monitor setup. Any idea what could be wrong?

Re: Gnome Activity Menu Background

Disabling "Having a file manage handle Desktop" in GNOME Tweak Tool fixed this for me.

I guess, GNOME 3.6 doesn't play nicely with it. May be on purpose?

Re: Gnome Activity Menu Background

I had the exactly same issue even with just one monitor plugged-in. Anyway, disabling "Having a file manage handle Desktop" solved the problem.

btw I'm still looking for solution where I can have both background in the activities as well as icons on the desktop.

Re: Gnome Activity Menu Background

I'm having the same issue too. Disabling "Having a file manage handle Desktop" does not work for me!!

PS : I am not using the testing repo though.

Set everything under "Desktop" in GNOME Tweak Tool to "Off". (Home icon, mounted volumes etc.)

This should fix it.

Even I am looking for the same. But I doubt if this is ever going to happen now. Legacy codebase is not being maintained/is being removed.

I guess after a couple of more releases, I'll call it a day and move to KDE. GNOME 3.4 + File Manager handling Desktop was perfect for me. sad
