Hi, I have been happily using Steam under Wine for quite some time, but for some reason it suddenly stopped working today.
I have tried downgrading Wine, reinstalling Steam into a clean prefix, etc, but the result is always the same and looks like this on the console:

I had the same problem many times. Try removing all files in your Steam folder and only keep Steamapps and Steam.exe.

Same thing happens. I have also tried clean install into an empty Wine prefix without any success.

I was having that issue just now as well.
I tried downloading the source from winehq and compiled that and it works for that version of wine. It might be some Arch specific patch.

The Arch wine builds are without any patches.

I also just started having this bug. The strange thing is this exact version of wine was working fine before I updated earlier today. Wine wasn't updated, but now only arch's version of wine doesn't work. Downgrading to 1.5.15 from arch packages also doesn't work. Those same versions of wine from other sources work perfectly fine, however.

Works for me. Thank you sir!

Yes, the downgrading works indeed. However as I wanted to avoid having to keep around downgraded packages, I have rebuilt Wine from the ABS, which also solves the issue.

Hi,
I was hit with this bug too. I am using PlayonLinux though, which can either use the System wine package, or instead may install its own wine version for each drive. The problem could be fixed using one of these "wine" instead of the system one, without having to downgrade gnutls, lib32-libtasn and libtasn. Does that make sense? Does PlayonLinux (which downloads wine binaries from winehq website) provide these libraries too? I guess they are statically compiled in the downloaded version then.

So that means the maintainer of wine needs to rebuild it to fix the issue?
Edit: I just reported the problem in the bugtracker: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/32364

Guys, next time do not accept workarounds! We are not Ubuntu. Just report the damn bug and receive a fixed package quite soon. How should I know wine is broken with steam if you only post it on the forums?
On a related note, thanks to the dude who posted the bug, I just fixed wine.

Understood.
Forgive me for not following proper Arch protocol. Next time, I will make sure the bug is reported instead of simply posting a workaround.
Edit: Also, thanks for resolving the issue.

EDIT : Nevermind, Fixed since 1.5.17-1
Hi all, I am a little bit confused, maybe I got something wrong or misunderstand but :
On my 2 x86_64 computers, using wine 1.5.16-1
libtasn1 3.0-1
lib32-libtasn1 3.0-1
gnutls 3.1.3-2
lib32-gnutls 3.1.3-2
Steam never stopped working (and still works with 1.5.16-2 as intended)
But It seems I am facing a regression with Need for speed world on wine 1.5.16-2 due to https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/32364.
The game launcher don't show up and a popup appears claiming servers are closed for maintenance.

But maybe it's just me, did I got something misconfigured ? Am I lacking any library ? Where should I start looking first ?
Thanks in advances for any tip
