[Solved] Shutdown and restart buttons not working in KDE

Hi, shutdown and restart buttons have disappeared or are not active in KDE and lightdm-kde. Perhaps a result of removing consolekit or am I missing something? systemd with logind is running. Any ideas how to fix this?

Hi.

Lightdm doesn't appear to be ready for consolekit removal so you have to use kdm to get those options back.

sudo systemctl disable lightdm.service
sudo systemctl enable kdm.service

Also I've noticed that when you enable kdm there is a different file now (called display-manager.service) which symlinks to the kdm.service file in /lib/systemd/system.

I like lightdm but it seems to be behind perhaps thanks to being ubuntu-sponsored. I've always had to edit the service file and also pam files to get autologin and networkmanger running. Shame..

OK, back to kdm, although would not like to, as I prefer the look of lightdm, oh well... Thanks for the quick and thorough answer!
