gnome won't start

After last yaourt -Syu and yaourt -S gnome, gnome won't start... (gdm either)

[root@i5 ~]# cat .xinitrc
#!/bin/sh
#
# ~/.xinitrc
#
# Executed by startx (run your window manager from here)

#exec gnome-session
exec ck-launch-session gnome-session
#exec startkde
# exec startxfce4
# ...or the Window Manager of your choice
#exec /usr/bin/jackd -R -dalsa -dhw:0 -r48000 -p1024 -n2 &
#exec enlightenment_start

[root@i5 ~]# startx 2> startx.log

[root@i5 ~]# cat startx.log

Re: gnome won't start

Is this the news item you were referencing?

https://www.archlinux.org/news/consolek … by-logind/

And if so, can you elaborate on how that fixes the problem?  I have the same issue and I'm already running a full systemd setup.

EDIT: Found and answer in this thread:

https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1184402

Simply installing gdm worked for me, even though I'm still using SLiM.  Just confirmed that gdm doesn't even need to be running, so for some reason gnome-session depends on files included with gdm.  Makes it seem like it should be listed as a dependency in the future.
