I get a lot of crashes after the recent webkitgtk upgrade:
(dwb:23300): libsoup-CRITICAL **: soup_connection_disconnect: assertion `SOUP_IS_CONNECTION (conn)' failed
The program 'dwb' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadDrawable (invalid Pixmap or Window parameter)'.
(Details: serial 80461 error_code 9 request_code 62 minor_code 0)
(Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)
This error happens when I want to close a tab with right click that is still loading. It seems to crash in general when I do certain stuff with unfinished loaded pages.
EDIT2: Problems occur also with gtk3 version dwb-gtk3-hg.

On one of my computers dwb crashes when trying to load Gmail default interface or any page with flash.
How to best troubleshoot this?
Edit: output from the terminal
$ dwb
GLib-GIO-Message: Using the 'memory' GSettings backend. Your settings will not be saved or shared with other applications.
** (dwb:21821): CRITICAL **: dwb_update_status_text: assertion `gl == dwb.state.fview' failed
This is printed at dwb's start and doesn't seem to have anything to do with the flash issues as my other computer runs flash fine and these lines are printed there too.

ems that it is caused by element-hiding rules, i can reproduce it but if i remove all element hiding rules from the filterlist everything is fine.
Yes I'm using the ad-blocker And yes, disabling it solves that Though I'd rather stick with disabling GPU accel for now

@reded: I have tried to fix it in dwb-hg, for me it is a lot better now but still worse than with webkit-1.8.
@karol: i cannot reproduce it, a backtrace would be great.

Not sure if I've done it properly:

Does this also happen in other browsers with flash? I also wonder why you get the dwb_update_status_text assertions, do you also get them on your other computers?

With some SSL pages I get "SSL handshake failed", is this a known issue?

@uzsolt: if you want to use scripts from userscripts.org you need the userscripts extension. You can enable it with
dwbem -N -i userscripts
You can then put scripts from userscripts.org or other greasemonkey scripts into ~/.config/dwb/scripts.
Same error:
$ dwbem -N -i userscripts

So: these scripts should be in .config/dwb/scripts or .config/dwb/userscripts? If I copy to userscripts I've get error. If I copy to scripts, no error, but no effect! When I use strace to show what files are using, dwb search scripts/base.js but don't find. I've copied /usr/share/dwb/scripts/base.js into ~/.config/dwb/scripts/base.js.
But in strace's output I can't find my scripts if there are in scripts directory! If there are in userscripts, try to load but drop the error above.

Untick ssl-strict in your settings.

@uzsolt: I see, i should reorder all that scripting directories, and document it better. You are mixing some things up. You don't need to copy scripts from /usr/share/dwb/scripts anywhere, all scripts in that directory are used internally, e.g. for hints.
There are basically 2 directories for scripts, ~/.config/dwb/userscripts and ~/.config/dwb/scripts.
userscripts is only for bash/python/whatever scripts or scripts that use dwb's javascript api. Note that scripts from userscripts.org are also javascript but they don't use the javascript api, scripts from userscripts.org
are intended to be injected into websites.
scripts is only for scripts that should be injected into websites, like all scripts from userscripts.org and the directory is ignored if the userscripts extension isn't enabled (which can be enabled with dwbem -i userscripts), so you have to put hup.js into ~/.config/dwb/scripts
In your case you don't need to touch userscripts at all.
If you successfully enabled userscripts you should get the message:
DWB EXTENSION: extension userscripts: Successfully loaded and initialized.
I don't know what this script is intended to do on hup.hu, but i loads without
errors here.

Yes. But it seems these scripts aren't what I want
Are there any chance to use hupper? It's available on chromium and firefox.

No, there is no chance to get it working with dwb, only if someone ports it to dwb. In general firefox or chromium addons are not compatible with dwb.

Does this also happen in other browsers with flash?
Ummm, yes.
I somehow overlooked the answer in the wiki: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Br … er_systems of flashplugin
I haven't been using that computer (an old Sempron) for some time and things were OK the last time I did so I started looking at the graphics card, the browsers etc. because flash has been working fine on my other computer (Pentium 4) and it was the exact same package ...
Sorry for the noise, all is well now.
I also wonder why you get the dwb_update_status_text assertions, do you also get them on your other computers?
Yes.
An example of the terminal output from the other computer (browser is running just fine):

I'm having a few issues with eBay in this browser: If you choose "Sell an Item", then put in "Bike" or something, choose a category, then you cannot get past that page. I also tried relisting an item but the "Edit/Place Listing" buttons do not work.
I wonder if this is eBay's poor website or if there's anything you can do to fix it.
Many thanks

@jsteel - I had troubles with the eBay site as well (different place, but some options were just not visible at all). I believe it's a webkit issue because I also saw the same problems with Chromium a while back. I had to switch to Firefox because of this

From the documentation:
dwb can be customized in a web interface (command show_settings) or via command line (command set_setting).
I want people to realise how good dwb is, so please add this info to your main web page. I know the documentation is already linked to on the site, but emphasising this particular bit of information will save newcomers a lot of time setting up dwb and help them to realise its power. Otherwise, some users may not discover the central interface and may wrongly assume that dwb is too complicated to use, which is a shame as it is actually one of the easiest browsers to setup and customise. I suppose you could argue that people shouldn't need spoon feeding like this and should learn to read the documentation; but in reality many newcomers are not accustomed to Linux culture and may find the 'man' style documentation a bit overwhelming at first. So please give them this nudge in the right direction.

@firecat53: I set my user agent string to "Mozilla/6.0 (Windows NT 6.2; WOW64; rv:16.0.1) Gecko/20121011 Firefox/16.0.1" (from http://www.useragentstring.com/pages/Firefox/) and ebay works fine! I will report this to ebay but doubt they will do anything. I guess there's no harm keeping it like this, apart from webmasters not knowing that I'm using a cool browser.

I installed the youtube_html5 extension yesterday but have not managed to get any videos to play. I see the player in my browser (instead of the usual "Click to enable flash"), and I can click "240p", "360p", etc., and I see a play button and forward/back buttons, but clicking them has no effect.
Is there anything special I need to do to get videos to play?
The extension is definitely enabled. (I can toggle it with the keybinding I created.) Also, hitting "eym" (the binding to open mplayer) does nothing.
What am I doing wrong?

sorry to ask, but..
i had a problem last week where flash video played in dwb "leaks" into other windows.
ie playing flash on one window, can see that flash playing in black areas on other windows.
irritating thing is, that i found the solution (probably on this forum), last week, but cannot find the correct search terms to find it again....aaarrrggghhhh!!!
please someone point me to it.
thx.

Do you have the gstreamer plugins installed?
I just now installed all of the gstreamer0.10-plugins group (including base, good, bad, ugly, and ffmpeg), and it's still not working. I'm trying with this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjQmTkMjIBg (an HTML5 test video).
Here's another HTML5 video that likewise isn't working in dwb, but does work in Firefox for me: http://www.macslocum.com/html5-video.html.
