[SOLVED] startx isn't working after a system update

I have both my PC and my laptop running the latest Arch. I generally update them both at the same time, and after this update, both of them abort after trying to startx. Fortunately, my PC duel boots with LMDE.

Lets work on the Laptop.

Re: [SOLVED] startx isn't working after a system update

Did this work at one time? It looks like the X server is terminating normally, because it doesn't have anything to do. Does your .xinitrc doesn't really say "exec $your_window_manager"? Do you set $your_window_manager somewhere ?

Sorry, gnome3 was working perfectly on both machines prior to the update. And it is weird that my .xinitrc file has changed. "exec $your_window_manager" used to be "exec gnome-session". I've changed it back to normal and now startx loads gnome and gnome prints:

Oh no! Something has gone wrong.
A problem has occurred and the system can't recover. All extensions have been disabled as a precaution.

So I manually disabled all gnome-shell-extensions and it does the same thing.

Here is an updated printout of startx:
