Hi, i've got a problem with my wireless lan. A few kernel-version ago it worked without any problems, but since the 3.6-kernel i can't connect toit. If i use wpa_supplicant sometimes i can connect, but then the connection is slow (~40kb/s) and not stable. With gnome-network-manager i can't even connect.
Here are a few things that might be helpful:
$ lspci | grep Ath
03:00.0 Network controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR9285 Wireless Network Adapter (PCI-Express) (rev 01)
$ lsmod | grep ath
ath9k 99678 0
ath9k_common 2096 1 ath9k
ath9k_hw 339155 2 ath9k_common,ath9k
ath 15361 3 ath9k_common,ath9k,ath9k_hw
ath3k 5733 0
mac80211 424764 3 ath9k,rt2x00lib,rt2x00usb
bluetooth 192120 3 ath3k,btusb
cfg80211 176994 4 ath,ath9k,mac80211,rt2x00lib
usbcore 150398 8 ath3k,btusb,rt73usb,rt2x00usb,ohci_hcd,ehci_hcd,usbhid,xhci_hcd
At the moment i use an D-Link wireless usb stick (with rt73 chipset) to get a connection. That works, but is not really stable at all and i get only ~400kb/s. On windows i get exact 750kb/s, so it's not an hardware-issue or a problem with the position of my wlan-antennas. It is really just related to archlinux.
I've read about madwifi and compat-wireless, but i'm not sure what to use, i prefer something that i install once and then it works, without compiling the stuff again on every kernel-update (As it seems, this is the way to use compat-wireless).
Any hints, tips, suggestions or experiences related to this?
Any help is appreciated.

I have similar problem long time ago.
Try install crda (Central Regulatory Domain Agent for wireless networks) and wireless-regdb (Central Regulatory Domain Database).
When these two are installed go to /etc/conf.d/ and edit file wireless-regdom.
Remove sign # from your country, save and reboot.
Tell us if it works for you.

With this i still can't connect through the gnome network manager, but if i use wpa_supplicant from commandline the connection ist stable and fast, nearly 750kb/s. Not a perfect solution but it works much better than before. Thanks!
Of course i still search for an solution that works with the gnome network manager, but in meantime i use this approach.
EDIT: I solved the gnome network manager issue: It was only a false password problem. Seems that all is now working.

Jep, but i don't want to register a new account just for editing this one wiki-page.
