See my github for statuscolors patch . Haven't tried it with dwm 6.1 though.

Awesome, I'll check it out. It's for 6.1, including Xft, right?

I dont use pango/xft but it work flawlessly on dwm 6.0. You may see jokerboy's repo too. He has collected some good patches .
EDIT: Looking at the commit message at suckless.org , I think dwm 6.1 now has xft by default . Or maybe I am mistaking . neutral
EDIT2: It does. Here

Do you happen to have that as a .diff already? When I wget it it gives me the html code... annoying. And copy paste always messes up my diffs

Re: DWM Hackers Unite! Share (or request) dwm patches.

I tried status colors patch on dwm 6.1 and it is failing. That is because the xft patch has been applied on the source just 3 days ago . And the patch that I have does not work with pango/xft.
Why do you want to use the development version ?

EDIT: If the reason is xft/pango , Unia has xft+statuscolors setup already.

No, I meant I hg cloned straight from hg.suckless.org. I didn't try your full dealio yet, that was my next go, just wanted to see if I could make it work with my current setup

Any chance you expand a little about what this does and how to use it?

Hi!
This patch replaces the main modifier key (Modkey) with a prefix key (C-t), like a Ratpoison/Stumpwm/Emacs.

I just compared the patch used with DWM 6.1 and it's almost the same as mine (but of course; I got it from Suckless! big_smile) except they added an #include for fontconfig. I have updated my patch and it works perfectly fine with my statuscolors. So, you can just grab the 6.1 source and apply my statuscolors over it!

@Unia
I am using your pango and statuscolors setup but for some reason I can't get more than 2 colors working. But your xft setup is working as expected.
is there anything I am doing wrong ?
I am using a dwm status script to show some system information on my dwm bar.
Thanks.

I don't know big_smile I never used the Pango version. I just created it to see the differences between XFT and Pango fonts and then for practice, applied all the patches I used on regular and XFT version. If I have some time later today, I will look into it!

EDIT:
Perhaps line 55/56 here?
https://github.com/Unia/DWM-PANGO/blob/ … pango.diff

Otherwise, it's either the statuscolors patch or your setup. Could you share your config.h?

Re: DWM Hackers Unite! Share (or request) dwm patches.

I edited my post above, in case you missed it.

EDIT: What's your reason for using Pango? You might as well use XFT, if you have no special reason. My XFT version is working properly, I currently use it myself.

Yes your xft is working fine. But some fonts are still displayed as empty boxes. My native language is displayed correctly with pango.
Sorry I missed your edit. Looking at it now..

Perhaps try another font? Some fonts don't have all the special characters.

I'm playing around with Pango now and I applied my suggestion. It's not working, so I'll have to look at something else.

I am using your statuscolors patch so you know it better and here is my config.h.
Edit : I tried nearly all the fonts which have my local language. ( like sans, liberation sans, etc)

I'm comparing my XFT-statuscolors patch and my Pango-statuscolors. I do notice some differences so I'll have a go at these. I do have to leave home soon, so it might take a while wink

Re: DWM Hackers Unite! Share (or request) dwm patches.

I have updated the whole Pango version, so it's exactly the same as what I use in the XFT version (except for that it uses Pango tongue)

That means, that the statuscolors patch is also (almost) the same. This makes me think the error is in the Pango patch and not in the statuscolors one. I have no idea where to look for it, though, as I found this Pango patch somewhere around the web. I don't even know if I had to modify it.

In case you (illusionist) or anyone else wants the new code to look for themselves, I have updated the Git repo.

Re: DWM Hackers Unite! Share (or request) dwm patches.

Hi Friends, can anyone give me a patch for cyclic selection of windows in tiling mode for dwm 6.0 ? I tried googling but most of the links are dead or the patch is for older versions of dwm.

Link to one for an older version? I can try and adapt it to dwm 6.0.

Hi friends, the links are as follows:

https://bitbucket.org/jasonwryan/workst … at=default

https://github.com/mjheagle8/dwm/blob/m … cycle.diff

I don't know if these are the only one's that provide me the required functionality. (I just did a google search and nothing else). also, the link given for cycle at very first post of thread is dead.

Um, that cycle patch works for me for 6.0 and 6.1. In fact, I am pretty sure it has worked since 5.6
