TV Tuners for Arch

Hello all,
I recently built a desktop running arch, and I have a couple of questions about tv tuners. I currently have a Hauppauge 1196 WinTV-HVR-1250 PCI-E x1 TV Tuner 1196. Previously I was running Ubuntu 12.04 with this same TV tuner, and I got it working very sporadically (it would recognize 3 channels and would open them about 30% of the time). After this quirkiness and many other reasons, I gladly switched to Arch.

My question is:
Has anyone got this tuner working? If so what steps? Or can you provide a guide?
If this card is not supported or is a bad option, could you recommend a card that works well with Arch? I dont care if it PCI-e or usb.

Thanks so much for your time,
Pat

Re: TV Tuners for Arch

It looks like you need hauppauge firmware from the AUR.

I may have to CONSOLE you about your usage of ridiculously easy graphical interfaces...

Re: TV Tuners for Arch

According to the linuxTV wiki for this card, it should be supported - and without firmware (http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/H … V-HVR-1250).

That said, it may behove you to read further afield in case the above information is out of date. Also, if you're trying to use the analogue features of this (and other Hauppauge cards) you are out of luck - not supported.

I can confirm that the Hauppauge HVR-2200 and 2210 dual-digital tuner cards work very well under Arch, with a bit of work installing the correct firmwares (https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=126229).
