USB sound blaster x-fi HD - strange

KDE 4.9, alsa, phonon VLC backend.
Asus Eee PC 1201n

My sound card hangs every time about 30-90s after playing some music. When it craches, it doesn't respond to anything except re-plug usb. When is crashed emits constant in time signal varying frequency (pitch?). It works properly on Windows XP on another PC.
The problem was appearing gradually, I was using this card about 3 months (since december 2011) before 1st crash appeared. At the beginning it wasn't 90s but about 15-30min and have later shortened. I tried to reinstall system and/or clear any user/system setting files - didn't help.

Re: USB sound blaster x-fi HD - strange

[UPDATE]
It only happens when playing sound from google chrome - I didn't checked other browsers. Probably it isn't flash player problem becouse sound in eg. gmail->gtalk can crash it too.

Re: USB sound blaster x-fi HD - strange

I can reproduce this on a Kubuntu 12.10 install on a Dell N5110 laptop as well as my desktop. I get this lovely buzzing sound and output from dmesg is along the lines of 3:3:1: usb_set_interface failed (-62) with various ints returned. The model is SB1240 is it not? I came across this  post on a chance google search.
EDIT:
I'm going to try and rule out chrome causing the issue by switching to firefox for awhile on my desktop machine for the next couple of days. Do you know if there a report upstream on chromes side yet?
EDIT2: I'm also seeing output from dmesg with type=1701 audit(1350710312.279:477): auid=4294967295 uid=1000 gid=1000 ses=4294967295 pid=3415 comm="chrome" reason="seccomp" sig=0 syscall=2 compat=0 ip=0x7fcc6bcbc6b0 code=0x50000
always at least a minute before the garbage sound output. Are you seeing something similar there?

Re: USB sound blaster x-fi HD - strange

It looks like the latest stable release of Chrome has fixed this issue. Can you reproduce this anymore psorek?
