[SOLVED] systemd (systemd-sysvcompat) cannot be installed

Well this is an old topic from this post:
however, this is a clean install from the latest release archlinux-2012.11.01-dual.iso
the solution: pacman -R sysvinit initscripts; isn't doing anything for me.
All I've done is to: mount /dev/sda2 /mnt and then tried: pacstrap /mnt base base-devel

I can't imagine that this hasn't been answered somewhere but for the life of me I can't find it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Re: [SOLVED] systemd (systemd-sysvcompat) cannot be installed

sysvinit and initscripts are not on the newest isos, so there is no surprise that they cannot be removed.

What is the actual error you are getting?

Re: [SOLVED] systemd (systemd-sysvcompat) cannot be installed

Have you checked to see if those packages are on your system in the first place?  Use -Q.  If you just installed you should ahve systemd-sysvcompat already and not have initscripts or sysvinit unless you went through the trouble of installing it manually.

Edit: Too slow!  BTW, Trilby, the iso's don't have any packages at all on them anymore.  Everything is done via net install.  I think it actually makes a lot of sense to do it that way, since Arch Linux is a distro that begs to be updated... so I would hope that anyone installing Arch would be doing so on a machine with at least occasional intenet connectivity.

Thanks for your replies. I forgot to format the partition!
