Installing apps from source tar, tar.gz,bzip, etc...

I recently moved to arch from slackware and was wondering if there are any unique parameters or install options for arch that I should use when I install from a zipped source? I am having trouble getting afterstep to compile.

I could not find any information on this in the wiki or in a search of the forum.

You want to have a look at the wiki and familiarise your self with makepkg and abs I think - you might as well start on the right foot...or three left feet...

There's an afterstep PKGBUILD in AUR: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?d … s=1&ID=380

You might wand to reade the links Dibble gave you to know how to use it.
