Random Wireless Disconnect Problem

HI All

Of late i have an annoying issue thats getting more and more regular and that is my laptop is randomly disconnecting from a wireless connection, forcing me to reboot.  I have an acer aspire, running the brcmsmac module and using wicd to connect to networks.

Is anyone else having issue's ?

Cheers

Re: Random Wireless Disconnect Problem

I've got the same issue. I'm using brcmsmac and wicd. I've got to constantly disconnect and reconnect.

$ lspci -nn | grep 14e4
02:00.0 Ethernet controller [0200]: Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme BCM5764M Gigabit Ethernet PCIe [14e4:1684] (rev 10)
03:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Broadcom Corporation BCM43224 802.11a/b/g/n [14e4:4353] (rev 01)

Have you found a solution yet?

Re: Random Wireless Disconnect Problem

@10PinkPanther, I don't think you needed to remove netcfg.  You simply needed to enable only one.  This isn't like ubuntu, where installing a package also means having it configured and enabled for you.  Which really pissed me off when I was using it.

Re: Random Wireless Disconnect Problem

@WonderWoofy-Yes you got the point but the first that crossed my mind was to remove netcfg and since I did it wireless works perfectly.I'm still in the begining of learning process,I've been using computer only for eight months,I didn't have interest for that before.But now I'm so happy with Arch becouse it makes you learn many things if you want to run it.

Re: Random Wireless Disconnect Problem

Yes, I think that is why we are all here... learning things.  If you check out the contents of netcfg though, they are just scripts that automate the process of using wpa_suppicant, dhcpcd|dhclient, etc.  So really it is just using tools that should already be on yur computer to use wireless in the first place.
