I can't seem to install the legacy drivers because of too many dependencies on nvidia and nvidia-utils. How can I get the legacy drivers installed without removing a ton of other programs? Will everything still work with the 304xx drivers?

Which specific error do you get?
Which packages require nvidia and/or nvidia-utils?
According to https://www.archlinux.org/packages/extra/x86_64/nvidia/, nothing needs nvidia.
According to https://www.archlinux.org/packages/extr … idia-utils, nvidia-utils is needed only indirectly for libgl.
Since nvidia-304xx-utils provides libgl, it should be no problem and everything should work with the legacy drivers.
Edit: too late

$ sudo pacman -S nvidia-304xx [sudo] password for axanon: resolving dependencies... looking for inter-conflicts... :: nvidia-304xx-utils and nvidia-utils are in conflict (libgl). Remove nvidia-utils? [y/N] y :: nvidia-304xx and nvidia are in conflict. Remove nvidia? [y/N] y error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies) :: lib32-nvidia-utils: requires nvidia-utils $
edit: Once I start trying to remove things package by package, more and more files need dependencies that eventually need nvidia or nvidia-utils.

There are 64bit machines with Geforce 6/7 graphics? Whoa. Is this a laptop or a desktop?
Desktop with 6150SE on board.
Buy a graphic card. This is a serious suggestion. If you don't have a PCIe slot, there's a GT610 PCI available. As a bonus you'll get VDPAU.

You need to replace your out dated 32-bit libs and try again:
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/lib3 … tils-304xx
I am getting caught in a loop trying to install the lib32-nvidia-utils-304xx. It still does not want to remove the 310.19 and refuses to 'build'.

You should contact the package maintainer of that package. You should also get in the habit of posting output to commands to avoid people losing interest in helping you.
Force the removal of 310.19. Then install nvidia-304xx and nvidia-utils-304xx. Then build lib32-nvidia-utils-304 from AUR.
pacman -Rdds --noconfirm nvidia-utils nvidia
I had success using
pacman -Sy lib32-libgl pacman -Sy nvidia-304xx nvidia-utils-304xx
Then you can build the AUR package listed above
edit: I had to pacman -Rs some other nvidia packages as well, I forget which ones, but pacman will complain about certain files existing in the filesystem. Just run pacman -Qo on the files and remove those packages.
