[SOLVED] SIS Driver Problem after Upgrade

I have an old custom-built desktop machine based on an ASRock motherboard using an SIS 741GX chipset and integrated Mirage graphics.

I have the xf86-video-sis driver installed, and all worked well until a recent update. The xorg-server now fails with a segmentation fault. I understand this is due to incompatibility with the video driver and version 1.13 of xorg-server.

I would be grateful for some advice on the best way to proceed. Should I downgrade xorg, or is there a better strategy?

Many thanks in advance.

Re: [SOLVED] SIS Driver Problem after Upgrade

This driver doesn't (at least currently) work w/ xorg-server 1.13 so I suggest downgrading.

It works well if you configure it to use a workaround. There's at least one thread on the forums and bug open, they contain the necessary info. Search is your friend.

Re: [SOLVED] SIS Driver Problem after Upgrade

Now that's what I call service!!!!

The new version of xf86-video-sis (just appeared on the extra repo this afternoon) fixes the problem.

An enormous thank-you to JGC and the other devs.

May Santa be kind to you all smile
