I installed the e-svn and e-modules-extra-svn packages, and when i try to load e17 from lxdm, after going through the first launch graphical config, i am left with a black screen and a working, e17 mouse. clicking makes the cursor animate, but nothing else. when i try to run e17 programs from the terminal in another enviroment, i get;
ERROR: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown: The name org.enlightenment.FileManager was not provided by any .service files
any ideas?
EDIT: all subsequent e17 logins produce the black screen and the program i tried running was enlightenment_filemanager

intel integrated graphics?
in my case xorg dies with intel integrated graphic driver acceleration on, with e17, which triggers the black screen + themed mouse.
disabling acceleration works (man intel)

I'm using e17 on my EeePC 901 with intel graphics and don't have this problem... (I'm using OpenGL backend for acceleration)
I'm also on full systemd.
Do you have anything in your Xorg.conf?

When you log in press Ctrl + Alt + Shift + Home to disable compositing. Only software compositing works with Intel Graphics, not Opengl.

@Jodell:
Link please?
I have not yet updated to the alpha version currently in the repos, but in the previous -svn versions I can assure you that this is not the case. OpenGL acceleration is working in my netbook (or at least it's what the configuration options tell me).

I have now updated to the latest alpha (What a cool new default theme!).
Here is what I wanted to show you.
Intel GPU, OpenGL compositing enabled...

Your issue is not likely related to your GPU.

You've most likely didn't install the desktop environment properly - do you have "ttf-bitstream-vera" font installed and also "ttf-freefont"? This can help a bit with the display and can also display texts properly.

Ok, there's a fix for this issue, build evas with GLES support. There seems to be a bug in the Intel drivers, but I'm not 100% convinced that that is the case.

This worked for me on my Lenovo X220. Thanks.
