bah, anyone know how to make the xfce panel not have the perforations on the sides, you know the area you grab to moveit about ?

You can't turn that off, because then you wouldn't be able to move the panel...

Re: October 2005 Arch Screenshots

Yeah, I use Xfce development version and those borders aren't there because you set panel location in a different way than drag-n-drop.

Speaking of which:

Xfce (SVN build from my repo), Firefox (1.5b2, from my repo), Eterm, conky. Wallpaper by me.

It's just the standard E16 iconbox, with the following configuration:
http://www.student.cs.uwaterloo.ca/~tjw … x-conf.png

Then I resized it to fit the right-hand side, and turned off the borders from the regular right-click window-menu.

Important to note: once borders are turned off, with the transparent background in the iconbox, you can't access the menus normally anymore.  You have to minimize a window to the iconbox, then hold alt and right-click on the minimized icon to pull up the window menu options again (to add a border, say, if you want to resize/move it around).

i dun use the desktop much, so...  wink
anyway, cannot remember setting any of the fonts to be antialiased, just DisplaySize in xorg.conf was enough for me.

That's the beauty of having packages of different functions and layouts, and they are upgradable (pactk -up). Example, the latest twotubesdecor-0.2 is nicer then 0.1. There is a pixmap behind the title.
http://user-contributions.org/projects/ … sdecor.jpg

What is still missing is a nice looking pager. The defaultpager package doesn't match with pixmaped panel, menu or decor. Its in the process.

The packages what I am making are made simple and serve as samples for others to see how to do. Hopefully getting a small number of users to contribute.
