X will crash and hang the system on sleep

It occurs if I put laptop to sleep or hibernation or just shut down X after some period of time.

Also, laptop will not resume/switch on if battery charge is less than 6% (no reaction to pressing power button) possibly due to completely broken ACPI.

Oh, why is it so much trouble to use free software - even if practically everything works, then some small issues appear which drive you insane and put you off using it.

If I may... You seem to have chosen the wrong linux distribution. Archlinux is a rolling distribution and it will always have some "small issues". They are normally small indeed, but you need to be able to cope with them. If you like challange, please stay with archlinux; if you just want no "small issues" try debian or ubuntu-like distributions, or fedora. Or stay with windows (for big security issues).
I know, I know this is not the kind of advice you are looking for but...

Same problem here. Intel graphics, HD3000. Thinkpad T420. No solution found anywhere.
