gaim contacts on desktop

Has anyone come across an msn-compatible IM client that allows you to have your contacts on your desktop instead of in a window? I'm searching for a plugin for gaim or one of its rivals, but no luck so far. Anyone who's used a heavily-customized miranda IM in the past on XP will know what I'm talking about.

Do you mean something like the Contactlist Superkaramba Theme for Kopete?

That's EXACTLY what I mean smoon, nice find. Problem is, I'm an adesklets man, and hate to have too many system hoggers on the go at once. How light is Super Karamba?

Re: gaim contacts on desktop

Check out Mercury. When I saw this thread I had a look but couldn't find it, they used to have on the main page a plugin by somebody that looked like it did just this. I didn't post because I couldn't find it to link to but if you've got a little time to search their forums, I'm sure it'd be in there somewhere.

Re: gaim contacts on desktop

Cheers Cam; I'll check it out, and post a link if I find one.

EDIT: sadly I couldn't find the plugin you mention... also, a java-based IM client doesn't sound all that appealing (although I appreciate the info nonetheless). I might have a go at writing a plugin for GAIM; I'll go investigate how difficult it'll be. Anyone written a plugin themselves for it? If so, got any tips?
