You didn't find anything, because there is no port to Linux planned.

Highly unlikely, since engine Far Cry 2 and 3 is based on (Dunia Engine) wasn't ported to Linux, and it's unlikely that it ever will.
What do you mean by "many engines coming to linux"? As far as i know, the only big commercial ones are Unity, Ungine and Source.

That's a pity. Just spotted some news here and there on 3d engines being ported, probably just those you mentioned.

Re: Will we see Far Cry 3 on linux?

The Crytek's CryEngine has been compiled for Linux and claims have been made of it performing well.  Of course it was never publically available.  I think this is the future if not soon within a few years most definately we will see more OpenGL games and with that ports for Mac and Linux will be inevitable.  As long as Steam for Linux isn't a failure and the Linux community provides sufficient demand for Linux games.

I plan to buy all valve games as soon as they're ported to Linux, and if others do the same as many will, Valve and the game dev community will see Linux as a viable platform for distributing their games.  Valve already made the claim that OpenGL will run their games quicker on the Linux kernel that any other OS on the same hardware (they used a high end radeon card with catalyst drivers to make this claim).

Plus, there are many individuals who keep a windows install because they use windows to solely play games.  I am one of these people, so the potential for a huge migration to Linux is really near.

I'm using Windows for games, but mostly indie or old ones, since my hardware has pathetic performance ;p I hope that Steam will allow me to get rid of my NTFS data storage partition, it's so slow trough NTFS-3G...

Re: Will we see Far Cry 3 on linux?

You think FC3 will be playable through Wine, I see I & II have been?

Regarding Valve - are all their recent games playable then without hacks on Linux?

Someone got it running already.
For Valve, you can already play L4D2 and TF2 natively on Linux if you got Steam beta invite and are not an unhappy owner of these cursed r600/700 Radeons.

Unless I'm missing something, the hardware specs listed for that video aren't really that crazy compared to what most gamers are likely to have.

How much overload does Wine put when running games on Linux?

It depends.  Though typically games do run noticeably slower than they would under windows.  It's just how things are.  With good hardware most games are very playable.

I'd say you have to expect half the fps you get in windows for d3d games. Opengl ones run almost at full speed.
