TrueCrypt with a better license?
So, just found about this one, has anyone tried using it? Seems like a very promising project since I'm not a fan of TrueCrypt's license or practices... Doesn't seem to be too mainstream at the moment.

This appears to be the AUR package: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/tcplay-git/
I had no idea TrueCrypt isn't free and open source software. I'd like to give tc-play a try when I get home.

Nvm, I had uploaded packages under the name "tc-play" because that is the name of the Git project. I see now that "tcplay" packages already exist.

That's exactly why I put off using it until recently. I wanted to encrypt my USB stick and TrueCrypt was the only way... FreeOTFE would be superior (a "cleaner" solution), but it seems to be neglected and doesn't have a properly working Win X64 version (no signed driver).
TrueCrypt works on Windows and Linux and has a portable mode available so you can put it on an USB stick.
This project would allow me to get rid of TrueCrypt on my Linux boxes that don't have any (other) proprietary software installed (I'm not butthurt but it's a good objective).

Hello, I'm responsible for packaging tcplay for the AUR. I named the package tcplay because the executable is tcplay; I hope I'm not in the wrong for doing so.
Regarding the program itself, I definitely recommend it. So far I've only used it to mount a preexisting TrueCrypt partition, but it works well.
I use linux and I dont understand nothing in this post.

Looks free and they provide the source code. From their license they seem to want to protect their brand. Nothing fishy to me.

Just to clarify, I think "tcplay" is the correct name. I thought it should be "tc-play" at first only because of the Git project name, but the compiled executable is named "tcplay" and all of the upstream documentation refers to the project as "tcplay".
