Pacman db files
I can't find current.db.tar.gz or other *.db.tar.gz files in my box...
Did pacman extract those files to somewhere after getting it from repository?

Yes. The contents of your /var/lib/pacman/current is the current.db.tar.gz file extracted. It's just a bunch of flat files pacman uses for its database.
