Hi,
I just upgraded to latest kernel 3.6.2-1 on my Arch x86_64 and suspend works fine like always,
but after resume I think every process and service stops working, I just see the KDE unlocker window prompts for my password and when I enter my password It says kunlocker (or something like this !!) stopped working and kill it.
I tried to log on my one of terminals by pressing Ctrl+Alt+F1 and loging didn't work either.
can somebody help me ?
thanks

It's the same problem as this in my thread.
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=150737
What is your setup; (Hardware, partition scheme etc.) Mine is a Vaio laptop with LVM over an encrypted partition.
Later when I get to my laptop I will list lspci output.
Offline
@damdim I think so, except my hard drive isn't neither encrypted nor LVM !
my laptop is VAIO too
Could be related to systemd ?! I just installed it now !

I had migrated to pure systemd since kernel 3.5.x and suspend/resume worked. It broke when I upgraded to kernel 3.6.

@damdim your are right. It was broken before installing systemd too

I had kernel panic after resume, I rebuild packages for my ThinkPad(thinkfan and tpacpi-bat) from AUR and resume works. You should check whether do you use extra package for your hardware.
sory for my english, I am beginer:)

I am having the same, or at least a very similar probably with resuming after a suspend. Almost everything does not work after a resume. When this started happening, I tried switching from cinnamon to gnome 3, and then to xfce4. Seeing at this point that the problem was not with the Desktop environment, I just reformatted and reinstalled using the newest install disk from Arch. After reinstalling, I decided to give KDE a shot, but still have the same problem resuming after a fresh install. Even trying to reboot doesn't work. The error when trying to reboot using the terminal is:
Failed to issue method call: Unit reboot.target failed to load: Input/output error. See system logs and 'systemctl status reboot.target' for details.
Almost anything I've tried to run using the command prompt has resulted in some error that included 'Input/output error.' Is there anymore information I can add that would assist? I am not using LVM or encryption.

As a quick addition based on what spinacz mentioned, I do see a package in the AUR called vaiopower, and I use a Vaio VGN AW290. I have been using archlinux for over 3 years on this laptop, and never needed that package. Do you suggest I give that a try?

the kernel has been updated to version 3.6.3 and my problem still exists !
Should I report this problem as a bug ?!

I am still having the problem also, so that might not be a bad idea.
One thought I had, and I do not know if this helps at all since I am not the familiar with the suspend/resume process, but does suspending the computer to ram unmount the hard drive? Is it possible that resume in not remounting the hard drive? I ask because it seems like on resume the hard drive is not accessible anymore. The only programs that can be used are the ones that were already running and were probably stored in ram. If this is the case, where resume in not remounting the hard drive, would that be an issue with the Kernel or with Upower.

here is the bug reported by damdim :

Hey everybody. I have been following the first of the two bug reports listed above:
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=49331
This was exactly the problem I have. It looks like the bug report has been completed, or closed. I am a little confused for what exactly that means for us Archlinux VAIO computer users. Is this kernel patch something that will make its way into the repo, or is this a patch that VAIO users will need to apply manually? If it is the latter, will it have to be reapplied every time the Kernel is updated? Also, has anybody tried this yet? I have never attempted to patch a Kernel before, and am not really sure what the steps would be to do it.

Fixed in kernel 3.7.2
