Via 8233 Sound Card

I have followed all of the ALSA instructions for installing my VIA 8233 on-board sound card, but whenever I load KDE, I get a "CPU Overload" error, relating to my sound. I cannot hear any sound eventhough I have changed all of the mixer levels. Has anyone had this problem, or know of a solution?

I am having the same problems with Gnome desktop as yet I have found no answer

In Morphix Mandrake & Gentoo  :x  sound was fine ....

Setting up ALSA is a real pain & way too complicated why?

If you have any ideas or someone (the gods) are watching this thread then maybe they might be able to help
