[SOLVED] glibc update from earlier this year

I am attempting to update a minimal (i.e. no Xorg) Arch system on a little-used computer (for use as a server). The Arch system is about 1 year out-of-date. I know about the issues transitioning from glibc 15 to 16, and read the appropriate postings at the time. I am trying to find these again. Are they still available somewhere or, alternatively, does someone have the patience to repeat it to me. As stated, the system is minimal, so am not anticipating any complications.

What I did on a system older than 1 year (like one and half) was to boot from the arch live cd, mount the root on /mnt, rename lib to lib-bak, then use pacman from there.

No.
Open source is about opening the source code complying with this conditions, period. The ability to choose among several packages is just a nice side effect.
