I am having trouble with ATI drivers. I get this with Catalyst and the open source driver. I get streaky aliasing video, and aliasing when I drag windows around. Effects lag sometimes and I have just general bad GPU performance. This is making it hard for me to make Linux my primary operating system. I really want to switch to Linux as I hate windows but I have to figure this out first. My gpu is an MSI Radeon HD 7770. Its the newest generation of AMD GPU's.
