[WORKAROUND] flashplugin 10 and newest intel drivers.

Hi, i own a netbook with a gma945 chipset.
I updated my system after some months and installed new intel driver, xf86-video-intel-2.20 and linux 3.6.9.
I'm still using flashplayer 10 because flash 11 doesn't support overridegpuvalidation anymore, and in the past i was able to watch youtube in fullscreen with hardware scaling enabled, but after the update all i get in fullscreen is a black video.
disabling hw acceleration by removing the override line in mms.cfg or by using the flash window by right clicking on the video works, but the gpu is not used at all, and the playback is choppy.

Did anyone noticed the same?

Re: [WORKAROUND] flashplugin 10 and newest intel drivers.

I am having the same chipset and my new flash player works fine without any manual intervention.

Does youtube in fullscreen uses hardware scaling for you? (rightclick on the playing video -> show video info)
I ask because flashplugin 10 was the last able to do it by using overridegpuvalidation in mms.cfg

Re: [WORKAROUND] flashplugin 10 and newest intel drivers.

No hardware scaling. Software rendering only. But playback is smooth but some times it used to be choppy in the past. I use smtube if I had to watch longer videos.

But never had black screen.

Re: [WORKAROUND] flashplugin 10 and newest intel drivers.

I was talking about black screen with the previous flash version when i forced the hw scaling to spare cpu cycles.
Even to me the video is smooth, but the netbook battery is not that happy.

Re: [WORKAROUND] flashplugin 10 and newest intel drivers.

I 'solved' the issue by using gallium drivers.
compiled aur/mesa-full-i915g, then unpacked the package into /usr/local/gallium/usr
Start firefox by the wrapper gallium.sh:

#!/bin/sh
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/gallium/usr/lib/ LIBGL_DRIVERS_PATH=/usr/local/gallium/usr/lib/xorg/modules/dri $@

gallium.sh firefox

And fullscreen flash is  using hw acceleration again.

Cpu and battery said "Thanks!, clap clap"

Re: [WORKAROUND] flashplugin 10 and newest intel drivers.

I had to use aur/mesa-i915g with a PKGBUILD file modified to retrieve and build mesa 9.1.2 (the changes are described in the aur comments).

Re: [WORKAROUND] flashplugin 10 and newest intel drivers.

Anyway, seems the bug is fixed with more recent intel drivers.
