A message to the devs

Hey folks,

I just want to thanks the devs for all their efforts. I've been using Arch for some time now and never had serious issues.
Switch to /usr/lib, signed packages and systemd was flawless. I really don't understand all the fuss people are making about it.
IMHO if you actually can see what might be the problem with the way daemons are started, you can go LFS and leave us alone ! big_smile

So thank you for giving me the opportunity to have a great GNU/Linux distrib with crunchy bits of maintenance AKA I just learned some stuff; in a great sea of lubrificated pacman -Syu.

That is all. Have a great day everyone smile

"open source is about choice"
No.
Open source is about opening the source code complying with this conditions, period. The ability to choose among several packages is just a nice side effect.

systemd has its advantages; of these the most damaging are: corporatization, security bottlenecks, control obfuscation, and micro-managed forward compatibility pitfalls. Free Software meets Dictatorship. What a maroon.

Kick ass package management tools.

And that's coming from A software enginner with a high level overview. According to definition, A MASTER. You don't call a Master Fisherman a fisherman, if you are intelligent enough to respect his title. wink

Re: A message to the devs

We are getting off topic.

But if Allan has enough, experience programming such as the knowledge of more than 10 programming languages and having more than 10 years experience, yes, he certainly has a high level overview in the field of software engineering.

Engineers, we know there is truth and doubt, nothing is free from speculative criticism, even the projects we have created ourselves. rather, engineers know that the truth is the only thing that is going to save our asses at the end of the day.

So, we don't beat around the bush, for political reasons. Money however, is a big factor in what we can and cannot do.

Our dear friends at RedHat, seem to have all of the money.

That is a bit rich, considering you hijacked the thread with your agit-prop ranting.

This is your final warning; don't do it again.

Re: A message to the devs

Yes sire, shall you have me do anything else as your humble servant today master?

That's rich!

I live in a free country where freedom of speech is important, because we know what happens when you give someone the power to silence the voices of freedom. Corruption.

-- Power corrupts, absolute power, corrupts absolutely.

*EDIT* And you said I was off topic, this is a misnomer. The topic is "message to the devs" what do you think an advisory is?

For shame on yourself, that was quite the  blunderous comment for an admin who prides himself on rules and intelligence. Oh yes, quite literally I am not the average bear per se. Don't tread on me, or the community. Have respect.
