[SOLVED] A couple of question marks about Macbook and Arch

Hey all!
Today I'm installing arch on my new ssd, I already installed it on my macbook but there are a couple of things I would like to know before starting the ride again.
Up to now I've been able to boot arch after "bless"ing my boot partition with osx: when I keep pressed "alt" at boot my arch doesn't shows up, while if i insert my bootable usb with archiso I can select and boot it. Why? Is there a way to avoid the "bless" process?
And,
Do I strictly need to install osx on my new drive or there is a way to create the efi partition correctly from my already installed arch? It would be wonderful to be able to install arch from my actual install and only then do the change smile

Thank you archers!

Re: [SOLVED] A couple of question marks about Macbook and Arch

I found something interesting after cheasing the whole wiki and more https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=146452
Those of you interested in avoiding bless could also find useful this link http://www.alaux.net/index.php?article3 … hat-s-good
If someone has already tested the "grubless" thing could please post the results? I'm going to do it in a couple of days or less, I'll post my results as soon as I have some.

Not only it worked, but that really was a true K.I.S.S. experience, something that never was with the bless solution. I strongly suggest to fallow the guide on the second link (read it all before starting, it helps understanding what you are going to do). Someone should modify the archwiki.

It would be better if you edited the wiki.

Well I'm preatty a newbie on arch, it's been only a couple of months since I've installed it the first time, I don't feel like I'm ready to write on the wiki...

Well no one is a big expert here. You write your workaround on the wiki. Someone else will just fine tune it. This is how our wiki basically works.
