Wireless interface hard-blocked, unable to unblock (ubuntu works)

Well, after an update on the netbook, can't remember what day it was (months ago) I couldn't be able to turn on wireless LAN interface on archlinux, xubuntu, on anther partition, still works as intended.
Now, this is the problem

with wireless enabled via shortcut (Fn+F2):

0: asus-wlan: Wireless LAN
	Soft blocked: no
	Hard blocked: no
1: phy0: Wireless LAN
	Soft blocked: no
	Hard blocked: yes

with wireless disabled (same method):

0: asus-wlan: Wireless LAN
	Soft blocked: yes

	Soft blocked: yes
	Hard blocked: yes

What annoys me is that "yes" on phy hard-block... tried reloading ath9k module but that didn't work.

This is dmesg about ath9k:

Has any of you experienced the same issue? Am I doing something wrong, I mean, do I need any module to preload or kernel parameter to change/activate?

Have you tried setting the BIOS to default settings? I have a similar issue periodically but with bluetooth rather than wifi and loading the BIOS defaults is the only thing I've found that fixes it. (I can then immediately redo all my customisations - it isn't that some setting is misconfigured in the BIOS.)
