MTP and Galaxy Nexus

I have the KIO MTP slave installed and libmtp installed but for some reason I only have read access to the files on my Galaxy Nexus, I've tried everything I can think of. Any help here?

been using jmtpfs with my nexus 7, mount using terminal into a dir you have write access to and browse to it using file browser or cd. i also remember once hearing kde is looking at adding mtp support to dolphin, hope it was true.

Re: MTP and Galaxy Nexus

Yeah, jmtpfs from the AUR is your best bet for now. I've been using it with my Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 10 and it works decently. Sometimes it's incredibly slow when I try to use a GUI file manager, unless it's just an issue with PCManFM.

Re: MTP and Galaxy Nexus

I haven't had much luck using MTP with my Nexus 4 and Nexus 7.  If you're fine with wireless, you should check out AirDroid.

Re: MTP and Galaxy Nexus

kio-mtp from aur works for me on a Xiaomi Mi2 (Android 4.1.1, MIUI), but as read-only, and a little bit slow, so, same as OP.

jmtpfs works a little better, write support, but still a bit slow compared to usb mass storage.

Re: MTP and Galaxy Nexus

I have found that jmtpfs worked really well for me with the galaxy SIII.

Alternatively, if you're using android there's a neat app called AirDroid which allows you to use your device over wifi avoiding the trouble of mounting and cables.

Re: MTP and Galaxy Nexus

airdroid is fine, but copying big file {movie} or over 100 photos it quite slowly.

I have nexus 7 32GB - it has only internal storage so it is accessalbe only over MTP
I did think that google is much more open to "open" solution, using MTP is bad idea !!!

I have defy+ where I have SD card, and that is working nicely, pluging USB and I can see SD card, and I can use defy+ as flash disk - perfect

Re: MTP and Galaxy Nexus

After playing around with MTP and a Galaxy Nexus I found it very fragile. I got the most stable connection and transfers with Go-mtpfs (AUR).

Another approach is to use e.g. Pieter Pareits FTP-Server on the Nexus and connect to it with any FTP-capable app (e.g. Nautilus, FileZilla) from your PC over Wifi, Bluetooth or USB tethering. The FTP protocol is sometimes slow with hundreds of small files over Wifi but perhaps it is faster if you use the USB-tethering network which Android provides...
