I am currently using the 2.6.13-archck8 kernel from [community] and I'm not getting anything in /proc/acpi/thermal_zone. Actually, the only directories in /proc/acpi that are populated at all are button and processor, both those seem normal. I've compiled my own kernel and used PKGBUILDs for archck, cko and vanilla kernel and never been able to get any thermal zone info. I never really minded because it wasn't much of an issue but it's coming into summer here and my case is in a different spot than it has been in previous years and I'm concerned about it overheating. The fact that my vid card got to 80 deg C the other day playing Quake 4 was the dead giveaway.
I cracked open my case and the heatsinks all look fine and the fans are all working so I'm guessing the relocation of my computer is the root cause of this problem. I'm stuck with where I am for the time being though so I need to look at upgrading the cooling in my case but I'd like to be able to better monitor the changes. The only thing I've got working at this stage is nvclock 0.8 will tell me the GPU temp of my video card. I've tried lm_sensors and it recognised a bunch of my hardware but when I run sensors I get no sensors found. I followed the instructions in the wiki and I'm going to have a play this arvo but I'd like to get thermal_zone working properly if I could.
Any advice, tips, links would be appreciated. Here is some details if they help, maybe lshwd is loading wrong modules or something?
