I remember every time I install arch, the shell seems to be zsh, with it's helpful little autocorrect feature. I don't know if I'm quite ready to switch to zsh, as I've been using bash forever, so are there any add-ons to bash that have a autocorrect such as zsh does? To clarify; zsh has a autocorrect that if I enter in mksf.ext4 /dev/sda1 as I am setting up my HD, it will give me the option to correct it to mkfs.ext4 /dev/sda1.
I find this a very useful feature, and I had no clue in what other sub-forum to post this into. Thanks for any help.

It always makes me laugh when people complain and rage over any distro's management ideal, when this is a linux community, and you could always make your own distro and experience the pains yourself.

this might be what you are looking for.
I love computers, networking and Arch Linux. Sometimes I might ask a stupid question, but please have grace with me like I would with you.

Thanks for the suggestion, but that only corrects directories from what I picked up, and it does not ask before it corrects. I don't mind switching to zsh over bash, but what are the advantages/disadvantages of every day use? Zsh must have a fighting chance if It was chosen as the installation shell for arch.

It's very easy to change your shell to zsh to try it for yourself. If you don't like it, changing back is just as simple. The wiki topic gives some benefits: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Zsh, and also points to this zsh FAQ for more: http://zsh.sourceforge.net/FAQ/zshfaq01.html#l4
You might try zsh with the grml config. It gives you many additional features, and is easy to set up. http://grml.org/zsh/
And the Arch package: https://www.archlinux.de/?page=PackageD … zsh-config

After using bash for quite some time, I switched to zsh. I actually use the grml set up as well, and it is pretty great. In fact, the installer also uses the grml setup which is why I chose to use it as well. As far as basic shell usage, switching was really no big deal at all. Zsh is kind of like bash with a crap ton more features. So it seems as there is most everything I would expect from bash in zsh. Though I would consider myself far from an expert, so maybe someone more learned could tell you otherwise.
I also installed fish recently and have been playing with it a tad. It seems like a pretty neat shell. Though I have seen it mentioned that fish is not intended to be used for scripting (though I think this is also true for zsh). For that you can always just use a bash shebang.
