Can you upgrade to beta11. It runs TF2 much faster:

Old driver in AUR:
14284 frames 376.101 seconds 37.98 fps (26.33 ms/f) 6.828 fps variability
beta11:
14284 frames 255.988 seconds 55.80 fps (17.92 ms/f) 10.555 fps variability

I have:
- ati hd3650 mobility (rv635)
- proprietary legacy drivers from Vi0L0's repo
- xserver 1.12 from Vi0L0's repo
- kms disabled
- radeon blacklisted
- fglrx loaded (no problems)

I tried: aticonfig --initial

Ran into: aticonfig: No supported adapters detected

Tried solution according to 'Troubleshooting' and started X: no screens found

Help?

Solved (my fault): Vi0L0's catalyst repo was not above others in pacman.conf  so the official package was pulled.

PS: Thank you for the work invested in making these packages available.

Your adapter is supported by the legacy driver. I have the same adapter and it works.
I didn't install the required packages (hd234k) from AUR, instead I installed them from Vi0L0's repository but it should be the same because it's the same owner. smile
Make sure you use Xorg 1.12 and that fglrx is loaded and theoretically it should work.

Evrything looks like work fine, but i have AMD unsupported hw logo on my right bottom corner and aticonfig tell me that my video is unsupported.
Next i cant see temperature of my video (passive cooling) on sensors module (ACPI section type, works fine on open source drv)

knob, do u use some framebuffer?

I fixed it by commenting out the two "BusID" lines in /etc/X11/xorg.conf. Is this a clean fix? Or is there something else I should be looking at?

I think you should backup (or remove) the old /etc/X11/xorg.conf and re-run aticonfig --initial.

Did this just now and it works. Significantly smaller than the old conf, but it works. I think the missing sections are from when I left my TV plugged in via HDMI.

Also, I'm still on xorg-server 1.11.4. Is there any reason to upgrade?/Does the newer xorg-server cause issues with catalyst?

Ejik, no, I have no framebuffer... kms is disabled and I also (as a side note) have radeon module blacklisted....
In my case the logo didn't appear so I don't know how it looks ... but hey, if you succeeded starting X and that logo appears after and it annoys you just use what is says in the wiki to make it disappear.

Yea,it looks like i can remove logo but i just think that my adapter is unsupported now.
I try to reinstall catalyst from repo not from aur. There is driver ver 12.6 in aur and 12.9 in non official repo.

Im install Uvesafb it looks burg works fine now.

It worked for me. A few things to note, though.

Your aparapi pkg AND apache-ant are build-reqs for amdstream. Also, the aparapi ENV variable has to be available (in /etc/profile.d/aparapi.sh. source it, then build amdstream)

In this amdstream PKG (and the old libopencl PKGBUILD on AUR), the 64-bit $_bits variable is nerfed, somehow. I had to change that one line 32/64 since my script-fu is lacking these days. Too much egg nog. Also, the URL for the PKGBUILD is wrong as well. (Anybody else get a cloudflare browser agent error trying to download from AMD Developer site using Chromium? Firefox and wget worked, but Chromium/Webkit is blocked. WTF AMD??)

I got it to build and install, now to test using handbrake-svn with x264/opencl goodness.

kinda interesting news about CGN: Catalyst to be tweaked to reduce Radeon frame latencies in series of updates - this should also affect linux since catalysts for windows and linux are sharing code

I fixed deps and URL and added source to aparapi's profile. Though i can't understand why those $_bits are not working for you - your 64 change makes error on i686 system while old bits works fine for me on both archs, so i will leave old one and maybe will think about other solution.
Also: where did you get new opencl patch for x264 from? :>



I've prepared a patch which is removing aparapi from amd's makefile so we don't have to install aparapi if we don't want/need it - you can choose either you want aparapi or not by chaning value of _aparapi variable of PKGBUILD. By default it's set to n - so aparapi isn't needed and won't be added, just change the value to y to add it's Util and samples.
Another thing that i've changed in PKGBUILD was removing AMD APP Profiler - the target of this soft (basing on amd's www) is sdk 2.7. As i can see Profiler is a part of CodeXL now, so i believe that kinda-old APP Profiler isn't neccesarry (though i686 users could disagree, if so - write it please, maybe additional amdapp-profiler package would be a solution).

I've also changed name of the package - from amdstream to amdapp-sdk - though i'm not sure will it be a good move because of user's habbit etc.
On the other hand i think it's more accurate now and that it's a good idea to use one name convention for all of AMD's OpenCL packages - ie. in the way of simply adding an amdapp- prefix.
So i've changed name of aparapi into amdapp-aparapi as well. What do you think about this idea?

Plus i've prepared package for CodeXL - amdapp-codexl. It looks like AMD has taken gDEBugger, updated it and added some functionality like profiler and kernel analyzer and then renamed it to CodeXL (it's even depending on old libpng12, just like gDEBugger).
amdapp-codexl is a GUI app and you should find shortcut to it in the menu, you can also run it by typing CodeXL in terminal.
amdapp-codexl is for now x86_64 only application, i've build it basing totally on stativ's PKGBUILD for gDEBugger, and so i would like to give amdapp-codexl to him if only he will agree to maintain it wink.


You can find sources to build mentioned packages here, i will move it to AUR and repo after getting some comments from you guys (and maybe girls also?).


I've found that catalyst 12.10 is working better than 12.11 beta in case of OpenCL. [catalyst-12.10] repository wasn't updated and so only it's catalyst-generator is supporting 3.7 kernel, but i should be able to update it on the weekend and bring support of 3.7 and initial 3.8 kernel for all packages.
Edit: sorry mates, i had no time to perform update, maybe upcoming weekend will be better.

I'm having trouble getting amdcccle's underscan settings to stay applied after a reboot. I'm running an hd7770 on catalyst-total 12.11. I need amdcccle's underscan slider to be set at 0% in order to remove the black borders from my screen. However, every time I reboot, the borders reappear. When I reopen amdcccle, the slider is still set at 0%. To correct, I must drag the slider away from 0% then back to 0% after each reboot in order to eliminate borders.

I'm running amdcccle as kdesu and have verified that the fglrx module is running.
I've also tried the following which does not seem to have any effect:

[dk0r@i7-3700 ~]$ sudo aticonfig --set-pcs-val=MCIL,DigitalHDTVDefaultUnderscan,0

I am running kernel 3.6 and catalyst 12.9, on a mobility Radeon HD 5470. My problem is that catalyst keeps forgetting "Enable Tear Free" setting, after a few reboots (Its not on every reboot). The corresponding sections from /etc/ati/amdpcsdb are gone too. They return when I turn it on from Control Centre.

I was thinking of renaming the working config as default, so that they persist. Is it safe? Any suggestions?

I have successfully installed Arch Linux on VBox using installation guide on Wiki.
Now i am installing Arch on my PC as main OS.
My video card is ATI Radeon 4290. Regarding to Wiki: The legacy driver for Radeon HD 2xxx 3xxx 4xxx is not available in [community] yet.
How to install legacy  catalyst driver?

Getting this still on a HD5470 mobile card on the latest beta drivers from catalyst-total on AUR.

Anyone have any ideas? I tried the remove watermark thing from the arch Wiki, but X wouldn't start afterward, it just oscillated between bright and dark, and overheated my card, so I won't be trying that again.
