Skyrim Creation Kit

I'm looking for suggestions or 'testimonials' from anyone who has gotten the CK running in Arch, whether through wine, VM*, or elsewise. My first attempt was a qemu-kvm VM running Win 7 x64. I installed Steam, Skyrim, then the CK. The CK would launch but hang indefinitely during a stage in the initial application loading process.

Next I tried wine for the very first time. Long story short, I got Steam installed then installed Skyrim. Things went south as soon as I tried to launch the game (to install prereqs).

I'm not looking for troubleshooting help; I'd just like to get an idea what I may be in for before I dive in further, particularly in regard to wine.  Thanks.

* Preferably other than VMware. I <3 VMware, just not in Linux.

Have you tried installing skyrim deps through winetricks? Here is the list of possible deps.

Yeah, I did that. I appreciate the suggestion, but I'm not really looking to troubleshoot wine - at least not yet. When I am ready I'll post a lot more detail about what I've done.

For the moment I primarily want to know if anyone else has the CK working (now or in the recent past).

I got it working in wine last night. But I'd still like to get others' experiences with it, if such are to be had.

All things considered though, I think I'd rather run it in a Windows VM. I know it's been done, but in a VMware VM. In my qemu VM, using "-vga vmware" didn't help, so maybe the newer (presumably closed source) VMware video device is required.  Qemu's "-vga vmware" is the older, open source device.
