Trying to compile the original foobillard package I get a series of problem along the lines of
undefined reference to `glCombiner.....
followed by
collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status
I cannot see any other errors reported, so the missing library seems to be indicated by the glCombiner... string.
Any ideas what it might be please?
Andrew

Just curious why you don't want to install foobillard++ from extra. Easier than compiling. If you still want to compile maybe check here: http://foobillardplus.sourceforge.net/needs.html (which a simple google search finds).

If ABS were Britney Spears, it would sing:
I was born to make you happy.
If for any reason you cannot do what bgc1954 has suggested, always 1) search ABS directories for a dedicated PKGBUILD, and 2) create a customized package with it. Avoid installing any software directly from source code. Building a package lets you do exactly the same without introducing any mess to your system.
Good luck!

Thanks for the feedback
@bgc1954 foobillard++ is broken on both my computers, the video output is badly distorted.
@bohoomil the original foobillard is not in AUR, I was going to create a PKGBUILD for it, but it does not compile

@bohoomil the original foobillard is not in AUR
That's why he said get the PKGBUILD from ABS, not AUR.
EDIT: ah, I see foobillard and foobillard++ are not the same. As a handy coincidence, someone one these forums must have been looking for help with the original foobillard a while back as I do have the PKGBUILD and patch files in my ABS tree.
If you want to take it over, I can upload the source tarball to the AUR and orphan it.
EDIT2: nevermind. This PKGBUILD gathered sources from ftp.archlinux.org. They are no longer there.

Not much good anyway if I cannot compile it. Any ideas about the original question?

Not really. I tend to ignore error messages containing 'dot dot dot'. They mean one of two things: your computer is hiding important information from you, or you are hiding important information from us. The solution to the former is to stop using <unnamed proprietary OS>, the solution to the latter - well I'll let you figure that out.

Or I am hiding multiple lines starting with exactly the same information, to avoid boring you with tedious detail. Anyway turns out it is to do with OpenGL so at least I can now get on with looking for the problem
Thanks for the help

Details are not tedious. Trying to solve a problem without being given the relevant information is.
