I've been trying grub2 and EFISTUB with rEFInd for a few hours and I don't get it to work. I read through the relevant UEFI stuff (with grub2 and EFISTUB) and tried it but without success.
Nothing that is put into the with the efibootmgr is loaded. The screen flashes and the select screen is there again. If I plug in the Arch Iso in again when the machine is already running I can push escape and it boots the Arch Iso (in UEFI mode).
At which level the mistake has to be searched in this case?

Works in MBR mode or just because of starting over...
Works in GPT partition map.

A ThinkPad X1 Carbon is on my wishlist.
May I ask if you've had any issues with Archlinux on your system, and how do you find the Solid State Drive and battery life?

Do you mean that it worked with EFI and an MBR partition map? Or do you mean it worked with MBR and BIOS boot? Or GPT and BIOS boot?
Because MBR isn't an alternative to UEFI that I know of...
It would be interesting to know what BIOS firmware and version you have and whether your EFI partition was at least 512M if formatted fat 32 (and if not, what it was).

You're right, it's a GPT partition map. My bad!
UEFI BIOS Version: G6ET59WW (2.03)
